New York City's famously large department store, Macy's, puts on a spectacular Fourth of July display with 14,000 aerial shells which explode from barges positioned all along the east side of the island of Manhattan. The fireworks display is synchronized and choreographed to a musical score.

Les Nuits des Mille Feux, held annually, light up the magical gardens of Villandry Chateau with 2000 candles. Lit at sunset, the candles burn on until after midnight in the beautiful grounds of the Loire's most famous chateau.
